Mullagh were made to work hard for this win in Pearses’ first Senior Championship game of 2011. Pearses started the better of the two teams and were in front when Mullagh broke through for the opening goal of the game. Cyril Donnellan led from the front for Pearses, picking off some good points and the backs kept a tight rein on Mullagh’s star studded forward line. The game hung in the balance until midway through the second half when Mullagh struck for a second goal, which proved to be the turning point. Pearses battled until the finish, with some good scores including a goal from a free by Tomas Flannery, but it wasn’t to be.
