Underage Hurling Roundup

In most of the juvenile hurling competitions we are approaching the final stages of the Group games. The U12, U13, U16 and Minor Championships are all in progress. The U10s of course contested the East Galway League Semi-Final and are currently on a break until their Go-Games begin. U14 competitions have been completed and the U15 will be played a later stage in the year.
Our U13s recently completed their Group schedule, with a narrow loss to Ballinasloe. This was their only defeat in 5 games. They had previously defeated Athenry, Ballinderreen, Barna-Furbo and Mountbellew-Moylough. They have now qualified for the Quarter-Finals, details of that TBC.
The U16s returned to action after the ‘Exam Break’ losing out to table toppers Oranmore-Maree, before a great win against Meelick-Eyrecourt (7-11 to 4-4), Brian Sweeney and Lee Murphy playing starring roles. They have won 4 games from 6, with just Cappataggle left to play, they are well in the hunt for the knockout stages.
Our Minor hurlers have won 3 games (Killimordaly, Oranmore-Maree and Mountbellew-Moylough) from 6, with one draw against Sarsfeilds. They have played two games since the return after the exams (defeating Mountbellew-Moylough, but losing out to Clarinbridge). Their qualification for the knockout stages will be decided by the final Group game against Mullagh.
The U12s have got their campaign under way with a comfortable win over our neighbours Ahascragh-Fohenagh last week. They will play Round 2 this coming Thursday (11th July) v Cappataggle at 6.30pm in Cappataggle.
