U14 Hurling, Round 1

Pearses 0-2; Four Roads 2-09: After two false starts, Pearses U14s had their first outing of this year’s campaign against a strong Four Roads outfit played in Ballymacward this beautiful crisp Sunday morning. Four Roads (Roscommon) were the hungrier side all through in this game and put some flowing moves together led by their big No. 7 who anchored the midfield area and helped them to a halftime lead on a 1-06 to 0-00 scoreline.
Their upper hand continued right through to the 2nd half as they added on another 1-03 to Pearses 0-02 points which came from the stick of Ronan Hynes and Daragh Roche. While disappointed to lose out on their first outing, the Pearses boys fought until the end with newcomer Niall McDonagh particularly impressive. Pearses must pick themselves up again fairly sprightly for tomorrow evening when they play Tuam in Tuam Stadium in Round 2, 6.45pm throw-in.
