Treacy Seeks Chairmans Role

Our own Noel Treacy, a former Fianna Fail Minister and Club Officer, has put his name forward in the hope to become the next chairman of the Galway County Hurling Board. He is will battle it out with current Assistant Chairman John Fahey for the job. Current chairman, Gerry Larkin, is stepping down after serving his five years and his successor will be elected at next Thursday (December 15th) night’s County Convention. Noel retired from politics before last February’s General Election and was previously involved with the County Board. andquot;I resigned and stepped down from the board in the past as I was going forward for Dandamp;aacute;il Eireann and I didn’t want any conflict of interestandquot;, Noel said. andquot;I have always maintained a huge interest in the GAA and Galway GAA specifically and hopefully I can get to serve the Association again.andquot; On behalf of all members of Padraig Pearses GAA club we would like to wish him the very best of luck in his quest.
