Pearses 2-13 Mountbellew-Moylough 0-10: Pearses led from the start in this Championship Round 1 game played in Menlough on Saturday evening. It took a scoring bust in the third quarter for Pearses to pull away and see off the Mountbellew-Moylough challenge.
Pearses opened the scoring with two points from Niall Skehill and Kerrill Hardiman, but Mountbellew-Moylough levelled with two points of their own. Between the 10th and 17th minutes Pearses struck for 1-3. Enda Cunniffe, Aidan Murray and Gary Lally landed the points, before Tomandamp;aacute;s Flannery buried a goal, on the run from 21 yards, 1-5 to 0-2.andamp;nbsp;
Mountbellew-Moylough responded well and in the remainder of the half hit four points to Pearses’ one, from Niall Skehill. Half-time: Pearses 1-6 Mountbellew-Moylough 0-6.
Enda Cunniffe opened the second half scoring with a point, followed quickly by two Niall Skehill points. Mountbellew-Moylough interrupted the Pearses scoring, with a well worked point. Niall Skehill hit his third point in-a-row to leave the score 1-10 to 0-7.
Not to be outdone by his older brother Ronan Skehill got in on the scoring act, with a goal and a point either side of two Mountbellew-Moylough white flags. Mountbellew-Moylough pointed added a free, before Enda Cunniffe and Tomandamp;aacute;s Flannery completed the scoring with two more points. Pearses now advance to a Quarter-Final scheduled for August 23rd-24th, TBC.
