Junior C Hurling, Round 3

Pearses 5-16 Tommy Larkins 5-9. Our Junior C hurlers recorded a good win over home team Tommy Larkins in Ballinakill on Friday evening. In a high-scoring game the teams shared 10 goals on a good day for both sets of forwards.
Pearses started well and Keith Connell, Paul Bellew and Darren Naughton had points on the board before Larkins got off the mark. Pearses led 2-5 to 1-3 after fifteen minutes. Keith Connell with the first goal for Pearses, before Paul Bellew added the second. The Points from Bellew, Connell and David Cunniffe. Larkins came more into the game in the second quarter, hitting 1-2, but Pearses kept the lead with four more points Lee Murphy (2), Pairic Hillary and Niall Barrett. Half-time: Pearses 2-9 Larkins 2-5.
After 10 minutes of the second half Larkins had cut margin to one. A goal apiece seen the score at 3-9 to 3-8, the Pearses goal from Keith Connell. Points from Lee Murphy, Paraic Hillary, Connell and David Cunniffe opened the five point lead, but Larkins struck for another goal, 3-13 to 4-8. Fresh legs in the Pearses attack (Joe Kenny and Damien Mannion) helped Pearses pull clear again, with a goal from David Cunniffe and points from Hillary and Cunniffe. The teams shared 2-2 equally in the final minutes, the Pearses goal from Pandamp;aacute;iric Hillary to close out the seven point win. Next up is Meelick-Eyrecourt, at home, date TBC.
