Football Semi-Final

Pearses 2-6 Milltown 1-5: Our footballers took on Milltown on Saturday afternoon in Ballymacward in the league Semi-Final. Played in ideal conditions and a perfect surface for the time of year, Milltown playing with a slight breeze, opened the scoring to lead by 2 points early on.
Pearses then settled into the game with the opening score coming from a point from Kerrill Hardiman. The home side pressed on with a fortuitous goal taken by Richie Lally, along with a well taken free by same player. Enda Cunniffe and Emmet Ward added further points to leave the home side in control.
However a lapse in concentration towards the end of the first half allowed Milltown back into the game, and despite the best efforts of Joe Flannery making a super double save, the half time whistle seen Pearses leading 1-4 to 1-3.
The second half was a tense affair with scores hard come by with both sides resorting to a defensive game. Milltown levelled the game mid way into the half but  Pearses pushed on in the final minutes with points from Richie Lally, Cunniffe and following a scramble in the square in the final minute substitute Dan Masterson claimed the goal to leave a final scoreline 2-6 to 1-5.
Meelick-Eyrecourt await Pearses in the league final which may possibly be played next weekend.
