2012 in Review

With the club action completed for the year, we can look back at a good year for the club. Our Seniors reached the County Quarter-Final for the first time in 30 years, losing narrowly to hot favorites, Gort. Here’s hoping they can go one better next year.andamp;nbsp;
Cyril Donnellan and Fearghal Flannery were part of Galway’s historic first ever Leinster Final win. The lads did us proud, Cyril shooting 0-5 from play in the final. The two lads were then unlucky not to add another medal to their Leinster one, when they reached the All-Ireland final, again against the cats, going to a replay before losing out. Cyril was then the first player from the club to be nominated in the All-Star shortlist. He was also selected on the Connacht Tribune ‘Club Team of The Year’ with Fearghal and Emmet Ward also included in the extended 30-man shortlist.
The Junior A’s competed well in the Championship, but exited in the Group stages.andamp;nbsp;On the underage front Ronan Bellew captained the Galway U16 ‘A’ team in the All-Ireland U16 final. He was also part of the club’s U16 team, who reached the final of the U16B Championship against Cappataggle. Sean Murray was selected on the Galway U14 team and played a big part in the club’s U14 team’s campaign where they exited in the U14C semi-final. The minors reached the B1 quarter-final, losing to Ballinasloe. The club’s U21s reached the Preliminary quarter-final of the B Championship, after having taken eventual champions Ahascragh-Fohenagh to extra-time.
The club’s AGM will take place on Friday, January 7th in the Clubhouse at 7pm. Please come along if you would like to become a member for the forthcoming 2013 season.
