The Club’s Senior and Under 21 teams will both be under new management teams this year, after new backroom teams were selected at the recent AGM. Former player John Raftery, part of the 1979 Intermediate winning team, will take over the Seniors, with his selectors yet to be decided. Tomas Kenny, member of the 2010 Intermediate winning team, has taken over the U21s. His selector’s are Paul Bellew, Gerry McDonagh, Padraig Raftery and Martin Tierney. Training has began for both teams, with the U21s playing their first game of the new year, a challenge game versus Kiltormer in Clontuskert last Sunday, which they won.
The U21s will compete in the B Championship this year. It will have 16 teams and follow same format as last year, in which each team will have two chances to proceed to knockout stages. The Junior A Championship will have 20 teams (4 groups of 5). The Senior League will have 3 groups of 5 and 1 group of 6 (including last year’s Intermediate Champions, Moycullen). The Draws for those Grades will be made next Tuesday night at 8pm in the new Indoor, Training Centre, Clarinbridge. The Draws for Round 1 of the Senior and Intermediate Championships will take place on March 19th.
